Additional Real Estate Tax Information: The tax year of the city shall begin on January 1 of each year and end on December 31 of each year. Effective January 1, 2011, a short calendar year real estate tax shall begin January 1, 2011, and end on June 30, 2011. All real estate taxes shall be payable by the person who on January 1, 2011 of the short calendar year is the owner thereof. Effective July 1, 2011, and thereafter, however, the tax year for real property shall be the first day of July each year and end on the thirtieth day of June each year. Beginning on July 1, 2011, and thereafter, the annual assessment and reassessment and equalization of assessments for real estate in the city shall have an effective date of July 1. In order to effect a change to a fiscal year real estate tax, the assessment for the short calendar year from January 1, 2011 through June 30, 2011 shall be the January 1, 2010 assessment.
